MAYA Confident Curling Cream Review #BecomeMaya

#BecomeMaya

I was sent this product a little while ago now and I’m very happy to be finally reviewing it for you now!

This is the first British brand targeting “mixed race hair” and if you ask me….it will be one of the first of many! (not to say that it’s not for all other types of hair and races!)

The sleek packaging and luscious conditioning cream has all the makings of a trailblazer and I was very excited to see whether the Confident Curling Cream lived up to it’s promises!

So first off, lets look at the ingredients:

Shea Moisture UK Boots Launch Event #SheaLove

So I have to take a minute right now to express just how happy I am that one of my favourite brands has finally launched in major UK high street retailer Boots!

I may be looking too much into this (or perhaps I’m just overly attached to my hair!), but I really do see this as a monumental occasion for curly/natural haired women and a dawning of realisation for the mainstream beauty world who has refused to cater to us for so long (despite L’Oreal finding that those with textured hair spend 6x more on our tresses than straight haired women…..)

Mixed Chicks Leave-In Conditioner Review

This leave in conditioner is like an ex boyfriend that I just keep going back to…..

It was the very first leave in conditioner that I ever tried when I embarked upon my natural hair journey over four years ago now…..and it’s one of the few products I that just find myself being drawn back to time and time again.

Contrary to the name……Mixed Chicks is actually aimed at women (and men) of all racial backgrounds with a variety of hair textures and curl types.

I mentioned in my previous article that this leave in conditioner seems to work well for me during both the spring and autumn/fall months due to the properties in the ingredients. Sometimes it is literally the only product that just ticks all the boxes (hence why it’s pretty much empty in the above picture)……

Mizani Coconut Soufflé Light Moisturizing Hairdress Review

Soooo…..maybe I should start off with the few positives there are about this product……

It smells good! Fresh and coconutty.

It’s nice and thick, easily spreadable, will last a while. I found that this product worked best for me when it came to twist outs and braid outs (which I very rarely do), it would provide enough hold to help the styles last for days afterwards.

However…..

Joico Moisture Recovery Conditioner Review

I’ve only used this bad boy a few times so far……but it’s fair to say, that when used appropriately, it is an absolutely AMAZING deep conditioner.

Now, this conditioner is DEFINITELY not for the “all-natural” lover! If you are someone who is highly ingredients conscious, then this product is most definitely NOT for you! Due to the heavy silicones in this product, I use it for one occasion only…..

Vatika Naturals Egg Protein Rejuvenating Shampoo & Deep Conditioning Hair Mask Review

This weeks review is of the Vatika Naturals Egg Protein with Honey Shampoo and Conditioner duo.

I’ve had these little beauties sitting in my bathroom for months now and I can’t believe I haven’t taken the time to review them!

All the way from the United Arab Emirates, this duo is a MUST HAVE for anyone with damaged/chemically treated hair (this includes bleach, hair dye, etc).

Seasonal Curls! Looking After Curly Hair In The Winter and Summer Months!

After four years of being natural, I think I’m finally starting to crack the riddle….

Why does my hair love a product one month and detest it the next? How can a product nourish my curls one day but break them the day after….

Coconut Oil: The Ultimate Beauty Secret – AfroFit Coconut Oil Review

Now, this blog post is long overdue! I finished the jar about 3 months ago!

afrofit

When I first stumbled into the natural hair and beauty world….I felt like a goldfish thrown out of the bowl and into the Pacific Ocean!

There were so many rules and guidelines in curly girl world that were just far too overwhelming to process all at once. Every aspect of my hair care routine had to change…..from shampooing to conditioning to styling to brushing…..too much!

Lush Cosmetics For Natural Hair…..”Roots”, “Zest”, “Jungle” and “R&B” Review

Hello my doves,

Here is my review for Lush Cosmetics hair care line and products specifically targeted towards curly and natural hair.

There were some absolute gems here which I couldn’t recommend highly enough, and there were others that kind of fell short in regards to providing adequate care for textured hair types.

Lush Cosmetics is an international beauty brand which sells skin care, makeup and hair care. Lush Cosmetics are 100% vegetarian and they are also against animal testing. Lush Cosmetics also participate in ethical trading and their products are also fresh and handmade.

How To Bantu Knot Out on Natural Curly Hair

Hey, sorry for my lack of posting recently!

I promise that I’m working on some juicy and collaborative content for you all! There are some amazing brands and bloggers out there that I am just so excited to be working with and I know you’ll all love them too!

Here is my latest tutorial on how to do a bantu knot out on natural curly hair! As my curl type is looser, I find it harder to do manipulate my texture which is why I have chosen to blow out my curls first! However if your texture is type 4, you should be able to do this easily and heatlessly! Remember what I said in my previous blog post “5 Reasons Why Kinky Kicks Curly’s Ass Anyday!“, kinky haired ladies are the queens of styling!
